Current Camp Conditions

Facilities

Nestled among the tall pines on 530 acres along the shores of Lake Livingston, YMCA Camp Cullen offers boys and girls ages 7-16 the experience of a lifetime. Campers take part in a wide range of activities including water sports, horseback riding, a ropes course, nature exploration, drama and so much more. In addition to the many fun activities available, the campers also gather as a cabin group each day where they play, learn and bond together while participating in fun activities like campfires and scavenger hunts.

Camper Cabins

Our brand new cabins (12 for girls and 12 for boys) now feature bathrooms and showers.  They are air-conditioned and heated for comfort in a variety of conditions.

The Dining Hall

Our new dining hall has been relocated to the water front and offers 12,200 sqaure feet with an additional 3,500 square feet of porch space. The new hall will seat more than 200 campers and replaces the structure that was destroyed in a fire.

Indoor Chapel

The Chapel makes a great place for church services, but it can be used for additional meeting space. Seating is available for up to 75 in chairs or 100 on the floor. During the summer and weekends, we use this area for candle making as well.

Infirmary

Our infirmary stocks a wide variety of over-the-counter medication, as well as supplies for minor emergencies. A nurse is on duty during all summer camp hours and throughout the week while HISD students are in camp with our Outdoor Education program.

The Dock

Our dock is complete with three boat lifts and four additional slips for our boats during the summer. Many activities launch from the dock each hour during the summer: sailing, skiing, tubing and the banana boat. Occasionally participants at our family camps want to bring a boat, so it is nice to have a place to tie up that is secure from the shore.

Amphitheatre

The amphitheatre area will seat up to 400 at a time. The stage is approximately 10 x 18 with steps the full width of the front and access from the side via another stairway.
